Welcome, I’m Michael, I have been the Principal Dentist here at Dentistry on Parkside until selling the practice to Arun Prabu Velusamy and his wife Alar on the 5th April 2019. I will continue to work at Dentistry on Parkside for three days a week. I am continuing to develop my interest in implant supported dentures while also following a long-held calling to be a local priest in the Anglican Church.
I graduated in 1987 from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery and Science degree in Physiology and Bio Chemistry. I have owned my own practice in Ashburton for 27 years and my aim within this practice is to provide a range of services within Ashburton that patients would normally have had to travel for.
Whilst maintaining a special interest in surgical and general dentistry, I am fortunate to be surrounded by a great team of dental experts who are all committed to continued training so that we can offer our patients the specialised services of IV Sedation, Cerec Crown, Inlay/Onlay Restorations and I personally have developed a passion for Surgical Placement of Implants.
I thoroughly enjoy working as a Dentist and find my job both stimulating and challenges me to keep up with technology which is constantly changing with what we can do, which all boils down to some great possibilities for your teeth. Implant dentistry is revolutionising many of our treatment options – now we can basically make you a new tooth that is actually fused onto your jawbone! Crowns, bridges and porcelain veneers are all things we as a team work with a lot on a daily basis. Meeting and working with lots of interesting people with varying needs and technical challenges., is something that I really enjoy.
My wife MaryJo and I have three grown up daughters and we love being a part of the Ashburton community. When I am not studying or attending courses to further my training, I enjoy keeping fit and swimming.
